For… lack of a better title. I don’t know. Well, I have good news and bad news about my world of laptopness. My financial aid adviser emailed me last weekend, telling me that I had some extra money. She said she would reduce my grants unless I had “higher costs”, something school or health related. Of course, I immediately replied and asked if I could get my alienware repaired or if I could get a new one and she said, “Of course! You have a budget of $4,200. Good luck!” Well, not in those exact words, but yes!!! I get a new laptop! Now what do I do with this one? It’s still in an okay condition but it’s about two years old now and it has a really large 17″ widescreen display that I can use still. But, enough with that ramble.

[edit] I totally forgot to write the downside, hah. The discount I want for my new laptop ends next thursday but I don’t know whether or not I will get my money by then. Should I spend cash I have in the bank for it right now to save $500 or should I wait and not get the discount? My problem is that 0.009% of not getting my monies. Blech. [/edit]

I’m starting to get back into my web design roots. I haven’t designed any new layouts or anything, but I’ve been geting that disturbing burst of inspiration where I keep getting distracted from doing my take-home midterm. It’s bad! This midterm is for my interactive narrative class and it’s due tuesday, but I only finished about half of it and that took me 5 hours. The professor said that it took students on average 10 hours last year to complete it, so I’m a bit bummed. I’m also burnt out too. I played two games so far for it, one called the Witch’s Yarn and the other Passage. The WY only lets me play one hour free so I didn’t get too far… I dont think. I thought the Passage was buggy because right hand side of the screen didn’t render correctly, but it turns out that was how it was designed. Hah!

Anyways, we’re gonna watch Stardust. We bought it today at BestBuy because I said it was a nice film.

Ever since trying to install my PS3’s SIXAXIS controller to my laptop, things have gone haywire. All of my USB ports went kaput, leaving me no mouse, external hard drive and no tablet to play with! Many of the things I could do were impossible! It was only good for homework and other normal text stuff and I was very limited with this touch pad. I could not play games efficiently either, which sucked because some of my classes required me to.

Anyways, I think it’s fixed now for the most part. Windows XP Pro was reinstalled and the drivers seem to work now (and I still don’t know why it wasn’t before.) Bleh. Ooh, and I got second place overall with the game I designed… out of a class of about 90 students. The other section of the class had about 200-300 students, but they got to use software to make their games.

Hm. My friend wants me to design a website and logo for her personal crafts shop. I have been researching (or looking up/googling) ideas for inspiration and motivation for the last couple of hours and found some ideas. I think I have a design block mainly because I haven’t designed anything in over a year or so. I can do it!
